Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485)
This visa is for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution. It allows the visa holders to live, study and work in Australia temporarily after they have finished their studies.
Requirements
- Are in Australia
- Hold an eligible visa
- Have not turned 50 years of age
- Have recently graduated with either an eligible qualification or with skills and qualifications that relate to an occupation on the skilled occupation list
- Meet the Australian study requirement
- Meet the English language requirement
- Meet certain health and character requirements
Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491)
This visa is for skilled people nominated by a state or territory government to live and work in regional Australia.
Requirements
- Have not turned 45 years of age
- Nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- Achieved a score of 50 in the points test
- Have at least competent English
- Have been nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency
- Meet certain health and character requirements
Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
This visa is for points-tested skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer or family member or nominated by a state or territory government. It allows the visa holders to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident.
Requirements
- Have not turned 45 years of age
- Nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- Achieved a score of 65 in the points test
- Have at least competent English
- Meet certain health and character requirements
Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
This visa is for points-tested skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government agency. It allows the visa holders to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident.
Requirements
- Have not turned 45 years of age
- Nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- Achieved a score of 60 in the points test
- Have at least competent English
- Have been nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency
- Meet certain health and character requirements

Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 482)
This visa lets a skilled worker travel to Australia to work in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor for up to four years.
Requirements
- Have been sponsored by an approved business
- Nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Have the required skills to fill the nominated position
- Have at least 2 years relevant work experience
- Have at least vocational English
- Meet certain health and character requirements
Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)
This visa is for skilled workers who want to work in Australia. It allows the visa holders to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident.
Requirements
- Have not turned 45 years of age
- Have been nominated by an approved Australian employer
- Nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- Have at least 3 years relevant work experience
- Have at least competent English
- Meet certain health and character requirements
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (subclass 494)
This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. It allows the visa holders to live and work in regional Australia.
Requirements
- Have not turned 45 years of age
- Have been nominated by an approved regional Australian employer
- Nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- Have at least 3 years relevant work experience
- Have at least competent English
- Meet certain health and character requirements

Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188)
This visa is for people who want to own and manage a new or existing business in Australia, or to invest in Australia.
The visa has five streams:
Business Innovation stream: This is for people with business skills who want to establish, develop and manage a new or existing business in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by a state or territory government.
Investor stream: This is for people who want to make a designated investment of at least AUD 1.5 million in an Australian state or territory and maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by a state or territory government.
Significant Investor stream: This is for people who are willing to invest at least AUD 5 million into complying significant investments in Australia and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Applicants can be nominated by a state or territory government or Austrade on behalf of the Australian government.
Premium Investor stream: This is for people who are willing to invest at least AUD 15 million into complying premium investments in Australia and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by Austrade on behalf of the Australian government.
Entrepreneur stream: This is for people who have a funding agreement from a third party for at least AUD200 000 to undertake a complying entrepreneur activity that is proposed to lead to either the commercialisation of a product or service in Australia or the development of a business in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by a state or territory government.

Business Talent visa (subclass 132)
This visa allows business people to establish a new or develop an existing business in Australia.
The visa has two streams:
Significant Business History stream: This is for high-calibre business owners or part-owners who want to do business in Australia.
Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream: This is for people who have sourced venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL).

Parent visa (subclass 103 or 143)
This visa lets parents live permanently in Australia if their child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
Requirements
- Have a child who is an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen
- Meet the balance-of-family test
- Have an accepted assurance of support
- Meet certain health and character requirements
Partner visa (subclass 309/100 or 820/801)
This visa allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to stay and live in Australia.
Requirements
- Are married to or in a de facto relationship with an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
- Must be in a genuine and ongoing relationship
- Both parties must freely consent to the relationship
- Meet certain health and character requirements
Child visa (subclass 101 or 802)
This visa lets parent sponsor their child to live in Australia permanently if the parent is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
Requirements
- Have a parent who is an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen
- Be the biological child, adopted child or step child of the sponsoring parent
- Younger than 18 years of age, or a full-time student between 18 and 25 years of age, or 18 or older and unable to work due to a disability and dependent on the sponsoring parent
- Meet certain health and character requirements
